More than 600 marketing professionals attended The Connected Consumer breakfast to meet and hear the latest consumer technology news and innovations from Amazon, Samsung, Under Armour, and more.
After a brief talk by presenting sponsor Yahoo on apps, Lindsey Turrentine, Editor in Chief, CNET.com provided our keynote. She shared the latest information regarding connected homes. Zach Parker and Jamie Scythes of Amazon demonstrated some of the many ways voice technology and recognition are changing how we access information and opportunities for leading-edge content creation through voice-activated devices such as Amazon Alexa.
Doug Ziewacz and Chris Glode from Under Armour discussed how technology is tracking body stats and the ways smart clothing will provide even more insights for optimal health. Diego Miralles, Director of Design, Samsung SmartThings, shared additional information on smart home products and connectivity.
The morning concluded with a marketing panel who commented on the presentations and provided perspective on the implications of connected technology to advertisers.
What a great day of volunteering at the LA Regional Food Bank! With 120+ volunteers, the ThinkLA group sorted enough food to feed 45,000 people - enough to feed a town! Thank you to our sponsor, studioD, and to our food truck, Cheer Burger! We'll be at it again on November 5th!
What a great class this time around. So many companies and agencies were in attendance, it felt like a great representation of the advertising industry in Los Angeles. We focused a lot of the “fear of public speaking” and how to deal with it - especially the exercises to burn off excess cortisol and adrenaline. We also spent a great deal of time discussing the Four Personalities and how to deal with each type when giving a presentation. The highlight of course was watching the final presentations and seeing how much people improved from the initial Personal Story exercise. I have to say this was a very engaged group and we had a lot of fun while learning a lot!
Our first class geared specifically to women was a sellout. Women from a diverse group of companies and at different stages in their careers dove into the five aspects of their personal brand: appearance, associations, reputation, talent and skills, and voice. Chelsea, our instructor, challenged women to think more specifically about these aspects - how to build them, own them and love them.
What a fantastic evening! Thank you to all that attended our YoungStars panel & mixer on 2/4 & big thank you to Forbes, Atom Factory, Smashd, Hennessy, the panelists & our esteemed team of fabulous volunteers. We're on an exciting journey with YoungStars and look forward to sharing more unique evenings with you. #thinkStars
