The ThinkLA DIG (Diversity, Inclusion, and Gender) Committee presents a screening of a very important film. An open, moderated discussion will follow.

From Shakti Butler, the director of “The Way Home: Women Talk About Race in America” and “Mirrors of Privilege: Making Whiteness Visible”, comes a new film that asks America to talk about the causes and consequences of systemic inequity. Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequity features moving stories from 23 racial justice leaders including Amer Ahmed, Michael Benitez, Barbie-Danielle DeCarlo, Joy DeGruy, Ericka Huggins, Humaira Jackson, Yuko Kodama, Peggy McIntosh, Rinku Sen, Tilman Smith, and Tim Wise.

This film asks that we understand and talk about the causes and consequences of systemic inequity. Yes! Magazine calls Cracking the Codes "the most dignified and evidenced response possible to the blithe assertion that we now live in a post-racial America."

A discussion accompanies the film and will be led by Shanique Bonelli-Moore, Director, Corporate Communications for United Talent Agency. The discussion guide to be used bridges the gap between inspiration and democratic action that supports racial equity.
