1. What would your pet say about you if we asked for a reference?
My mom motivates with a confident voice and plays with me all the time, especially when I feel sad. She is an awesome belly rubber and hugger. If you’re the outdoorsy type, than she is for you. We get in the car and she rolls the window down just enough for me to stick my head out and feel the wind in my fur!! She is a sharer and a team player – treats abound for tricks and cute puppy dog eyes. A great asset to any dog’s life!
2. Why did this type of work interest you, and how did you get started?
I returned to corporate work after 15 years as a stay at home mom – I was looking for a company with good people and involved planning. I was president of my kids school Parent Organization and planned and oversaw community educational and social events for over 30 committees. Prior to kids, I owned my own business. In addition to helping my ThinkLA family, I manage a family of 5 with my husband.
3. What keeps you driven and motivated in your life at the moment?
My current motivation in life is my family – my three kids and my hubby. We already have one in college and now my twins will graduate from high school this year and we will be empty nesters. I am motivated with the thought that I have been a good person and parent who has raised good people as I send them out into the world prepared to be independent, thoughtful, and caring.
Oh, ..and also to enjoy life without kids in our house. #lifeafterkidsspreadtheirwings
3. Describe your life using film titles.
The first few years of my young life were spent with my great grandmother – The Help. Elementary school life with my parents, where dad was a professor and it was customary to Stomp the Yard and celebrate School Daze on campus. Growing up in the sunshine state and spending crazy fun summers in the city with my cousins in a Crooklyn kinda way. California life and college was an eye opener to the world of Race and us Dark Girls. I found Something New and Loving and it was glorious. We had fun at Midnight in Paris with a backpack and saw life through the window of A Room with a View followed by The Proposal. Parenthood with three little ones seemed like Mission Impossible 1,2, and 3! We lived the Lion King, a world where my kids only answered to Simba and Nala. There were days of The Good The Bad and The Ugly, but the best were always celebrated Soul Food style with love. Kids are almost out of the house and Girls Trip is already planned! It's time for hubby and I to get that Bucket List updated!
4. If you could make a 20-second phone call to yourself at any point in your life present or future, when would you call and what would you say?
I would call in the the Present and say "Celebrate who you are right now, life is a journey that ebbs and flows, enjoy the ride and keep making others smile!" You is Kind. You is Good. You is Important!!
