C.J. Bowden is the CEO and co-founder of GREENSPRING (which is the first video advertising and technology company that exclusively serves the cannabis industry. The technology assets (Demand Side Platform, Data Management Platform, Supply Side Platform & proprietary video player) came out of Y Combinator.
Bowden is a digital advertising entrepreneur and operator with 20 years of advertising sales experience in legacy media and digital. Bowden was part of the original sales team at Yahoo! in the early 2000’s helping build the entertainment business and executed the first multi-million dollar upfront deal with Universal Studios.
Bowden left Yahoo! in late 2005 and co-founded SlingShot Media with several former Yahoo! leaders, which was a branded entertainment company focused on developing original online programming. The Company was financed by entertainment impresario Peter Guber of Mandalay Entertainment and owner of The Golden State Warriors and LA Dodgers. Slingshot Media worked with traditional content creators, talent agencies, management firms, production companies and digital media companies to design, develop and package made-for-internet programming.
Bowden then joined GoFish as a Vice President in October 2006, which, at the time, was an online video start-up that raised $11M in the fall of 2006. He and his partners created a completely new GoFish in 2007, which became the largest Kids’ Vertical Network (of which Miniclip.com was a critical piece) reaching a global monthly audience of 90 million (source: comScore) and in November 2008 the company was recapitalized with a $22.5M raise in private placement funding.
Bowden was the CEO and Co-Founder of Miniclip America, Inc. (MAI), which initially focused on building the US advertising business for Miniclip.com (an online games pioneer now owned by TenCent), but the transformed into a premium online and mobile games advertising business. In less than three years, MAI experienced over 200%+ revenue growth and grew to thirty-six people with offices in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami. C.J. Bowden was also part of the original management team of DistroScale, a leader in native advertising, and was also the SVP of Business Development & Publisher Services at Evolve Media.
